5 GEIS libnames

The GEIS libnames are described below. They are defined for each project within the configuration files mentioned above, or in the Project Selection window. The suggested locations and access rights are given in Table 1.

¹ X: represents a network location, S: represents a location on the share server's hard drive, and D: represents a location on the interviewer's hard drive.

• PROJLIB: This is the location of the project manager software used to select and run an individual project. It may be same location as the CATI libname. It is assigned by the GEISCFG.SAS file.
• COMMON: A library that stores information common to all projects. It is set by the project's GEISAUTO.SAS file.
• CATI: The location of the project's GEIS catalogues. It is set within the project selection window.
• DATACATI: The location of a project's data sets. It is set within the project selection window.
• LIBRARY: The location of a project's formats, usually the same as DATACATI. It is set within the project selection window.
• CORE: The location of GEISs formats, usually the same as CATI. It is set within the project's GEISAUTO.SAS file.
• CALLCOST: The location of the optional DISTANCE data set. It contains distances from your location to the telephone exchanges of respondents. It is set within the project's GEISAUTO.SAS file.
